Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor "threw her sandwiches in the air" after bagging a permanent role on the ITV soap.
The actress - who confessed she is out of her comfort zone as she is currently starring on Dancing On Ice - has played Sally Metcalfe on the show for over three decades, becoming a staple part of some of the biggest storylines on the show.
Sally admits it was a "massive moment" when she found out she had got a role on the show, and had a very special way of celebrating when she was offered a permanent contract by show bosses.
Speaking to The Big Issue, she said: "It was a massive moment when I got a role on Coronation Street. Even though I initially only had two episodes, I couldn’t believe I was doing it. When they said, yeah, you’ve got the part, I was like, oh my god, that’s brilliant!
"I got a few more episodes then one day I was in the canteen with our producer John Temple, and he said, 'Sally, I’m very happy to tell you, we’re giving you a year’s contract.' Well, I was so giddy I threw my sandwiches in the air!"
She added: "I don’t know exactly why they made my part so much bigger. But as soon as I got that contract I thought, right that’s it, I’m going to leave London and move up north again. And the rest is history."
Sally loves her job on Corrie and "doesn't regret" any part of it, as she says she has "lucked out" with the role.
"I love my job. I’ve been on Coronation Street for 36 years, and I don’t regret a minute of it, I absolutely lucked out," she shared, "I’ve grown up with everyone here. We’ve all had children and we’ve had deaths and marriages. Also, I’ve always had really good storylines.
"I always thought that if I was out in the big wide world, maybe I wouldn’t have the opportunities that I do here."
It comes after Sally admitted she was nervous to be herself on Dancing On Ice, as she's "hidden" behind her character for years.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: "I really do want people to get to know me because they've only known my character for so long. But again, it's putting myself out there that's quite out there, because I've never really done this before.
"I've hidden behind my character. So to come out after all these years, it's quite daunting. But I'm hoping I'll be ok and it'll go well and that I'll really enjoy the experience and then go back to being Sally Metcalfe in a few weeks."
