Coronation Street actress Rebecca Ryan has revealed that her character Lydia Chambers will go to 'extraordinary lengths' to ruin Adam Barlow.
Last week it was confirmed that newcomer Lydia is the one who has been harassing Adam and vandalised his car.
Lydia sees her full plan come into play next week on the ITV soap, as spoilers have teased the moment she sets up Adam.
It's been clear from her debut in December that Lydia is no fan of Adam, while it was confirmed they had dated for six months at university years ago.
Rebecca has now spoken out about why Lydia is so hell-bent on getting revenge on Sarah Platt's husband.
"In the past, when they were together back in their uni days, he treated her very badly and for her, it wasn't just a little fling and on to the next one – her relationship with Adam changed the course of her life and she's just really struggling to get over that," Rebecca told Digital Spy.
"The worst thing for her is that he hasn't admitted it or hasn't acknowledged it. He hasn't come to her and said 'Look, I'm sorry,' and I think that's all she would've needed, she would've been happy.
"If he'd have just acknowledged what had happened, what he had done and how badly he treated her in the past, none of this would've happened," she continued.
Teasing soap fans about the drama that's to come, Rebecca said that her character has "covered all bases" and has "gone to extraordinary lengths".
"She has been very clever and manipulative, definitely. This is a well thought-out plan, for sure. She has covered all bases," Rebecca added.
Lydia is desperate to tear Adam and Sarah apart for good, and next week she might just do that.
Spoilers reveal that in upcoming episodes, Lydia has set the perfect trap to stitch up Adam as being the mystery married man she is having a fling with.
Sarah and Adam soon find themselves rowing over Lydia, as Sarah reveals all about her being harassed by her mystery man.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
