Coronation Street spoilers have hinted that Laura Neelan will sadly die next week on the ITV soap.
The character returned to the cobbles earlier this year and confirmed to daughter Kelly that she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Just days ago, Kelly's life was torn apart when her mother confessed to the murder of her father Rick Neelan.
Of course viewers know it was Gary Windass, Kelly's current non-official guardian, who murdered Rick three years ago and buried his body.
Rick had tried to kill Gary first leading to his own demise, something Laura found out a week ago.
But realising she could not be there for her daughter, given she didn't have long left to live, she decided Gary needed to be the one to look after her.
With this in mind, she called the police and confessed to the crime - knowing where the body was as Gary had told her.
Gary was stunned, but Laura decided it was the best thing for Kelly if she took the blame, and Gary stayed out of jail.
Of course in the fallout Kelly, devastated about her dad's murder, is no longer speaking to her in the little time she has left.
Next week, spoilers appear to confirm Laura will pass away as she is told she only has hours to live by doctors.
When Gary hears the news, he's desperate to reconnect the mother and daughter seeing as it's all his fault, and he does his best to get through to Kelly before it is too late.
Kelly initially ignores his pleas to visit her dying mum at the hospital, realising how unwell she is.
While the teen doesn't want to see her, Gary is shocked to see how much Laura has deteriorated and wants to help her.
Laura agrees to take his secret to the grave and doesn't go back on her confession, but does tell Gary that her one final wish is a hug from her daughter, wanting to make amends.
When Gary later gets a call confirming Laura is nearing the end, he tries with Kelly one last time to get her to see her mum before it is too late.
But will Kelly agree and say her goodbyes, or will she later regret not getting the chance if she finds out the truth?
