Coronation Street may have teased what leads to Evelyn Plummer's exit from the ITV soap, following a scene with her estranged daughter Cassie.
Cassie, played by actress Claire Sweeney, made her debut on the show on Wednesday and it was revealed she was Tyrone Dobbs' mother in what will be a life-changing bombshell for the character.
Evelyn was reunited with her daughter at the hospital after a drug overdose, and soon some big truths came out about their past.
Tyrone has been living with his grandmother Evelyn for the past few years, but he has no idea his mother Cassie is alive.
Evelyn had told Tyrone years earlier when he tracked her down that his mother had died, but viewers now know this was a lie.
The character is set to take a temporary break from the show at some point this year, with actress Maureen Lipman starring in the West End in Rose.
Now it might have been revealed what leads to her exit, after her lies came to the forefront in the latest episode.
Cassie had found out that Tyrone was staying with Evelyn, decades after Tyrone was given away.
The news of being reunited with her son left her overwhelmed, not realising he and his grandmother were in touch.
Evelyn begged her daughter to leave him alone not wanting her to "ruin his life", but Cassie soon dropped her version of events regarding her being separated from her son.
Cassie revealed her mother had "snatched" her baby from her, implying she refused to let her keep her son with her 16 years old at the time.
Evelyn claimed this was down to her using heroin, and she wanted to get the baby away from her.
Cassie claimed Evelyn had told her she left her baby son on the doorstep of a police station, stopping her from being with him.
Her mother insisted it was for the best as Cassie "would have destroyed him", stating she was "making up for it now".
It's then that Evelyn informed Cassie that Tyrone believes his mother died years ago, saying her daughter was as good as dead to her after continuous drug relapses.
Cassie was horrified to think that Tyrone thought she was dead, and she taunted her mother about his reaction when she tells him the life-changing truth.
The lies are about to haunt Evelyn it seems, with Tyrone possibly set to find out the truth about his mother being alive, and the true story of how he was separated from her in the first place.
But can he see Evelyn did what she thought was the best thing for his future, and can he forgive her?
It would certainly help to write out the character if Tyrone did turn against her, sending her away from Weatherfield during actress Maureen's screen break.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
