Corrie's Adam Hussain apologises for liking controversial Andrew Tate tweets after backlash

Coronation Street's Adam Hussain promised to "be more careful" after liking a series of tweets by controversial online star Andrew Tate.

Andrew and his brother Tristan were arrested in December and were been kept behind bars in Bucharest until the end of March.

The contentious star was arrested on suspicion of alleged human trafficking and forming an organised crime group and placed in temporary detention.

He and his brother denied all allegations against them and are currently on house arrest.

Andrew also described himself as "absolutely a misogynist" and became known for the offensive and derogatory comments he makes online.

Corrie star Adam, 22, has been liking many of both brothers' tweets as well as tweets from their affiliates.

One of the tweets that Adam liked read: "30 more days on house arrest. 30 more days suppressed.

"I haven't been free for a single day this year. The battle rages against Shaitan."

After receiving backlash for liking the kickboxer's tweets, Adam released a statement apologising for his actions.

He said: "I’m really sorry if my “liking” of these tweets has caused any offence to our viewers and my colleagues.

"I wasn’t aware of Andrew Tate and his background and I would never endorse those views.

"I liked some of his tweets in the moment with no reference to his back story. I will be more careful in future."

Last month, Andrew shared a bizarre tweet after he was mocked on an episode of South Park.

He was mocked in an episode of South Park and portrayed as a 'toxic masculinity coach' named Alonzo Fineski.

Alonzo pulls a gun on Randy Marsh after he disrespects two exotic dancers but Randy tries to diffuse the situation and appeal to cartoon portrayal of Tate.

Randy says: "Look, I'm just trying to combat the messages that the liberal left is putting out to young men about their male instincts being toxic.

"I'm trying to show my son and his nerdy little friend what a real party is because society wants them to be ashamed of their masculine natures."

Alonzo fires back: "I will call some friends."

The episode continues to show the party shut down by cops, who identify Tate-inspired Alonzo and declare: "That's Alonzo Fineski, the Romanian sex trafficker."

Andrew's Twitter account quote-tweeted a clip from the episode this morning and added: "When I will be proven innocent. I look forward to help create the greatest South Park episode of all time."
