Soap favourites Elle Mulvaney and Harriet Bibby looked a far cry from the recent drama their characters have endured on the famous Coronation Street cobbles as they enjoyed a night out together. The friends, who play Corrie's Amy Barlow and Summer Spellman, left Weatherfield behind as they headed to the AO Arena in Manchester to watch Cheshire band The 1975.
On the ITV show, Amy was recently devastated to be dumped by her boyfriend Jacob Hay. In order to protect Amy from his drug dealer dad Damon, he drove her away by pretending to have reverted back to his bad boy ways. Jacob left the street in tears in the back of a taxi after handing back the keys to the flat they shared together.
And her pal Summer has been through a nightmarish time on Coronation Street. After being diagnosed with diabetes, battling with bulimia and her dreams of going to Oxford University in tatters after cheating in an exam, the 18-year-old ended up being held hostage.

After falling pregnant with boyfriend Aaron Sandford, Summer was introduced to Esther and Mike Hargrave by her guardian, archdeacon Billy Mayhew. When the truth about her pregnancy was revealed the couple, who are parishioners at Billy's church, offered to adopt her baby in exchange for £10,000 to pay for Aaron's alcoholic father Eric to go into rehab.
Tragically, after receiving the funds, Summer suffered a miscarriage, and she agreed to act as a surrogate for the couple instead. However, concerns were raised when Leanne Battersby told Billy that Mike had flirted with her at the bistro and a member of the congregation at Mike and Esther’s old church came forward revealing theyhad an affair and that they had a secret son.
Summer was horrified when she confronted Mike and he locked her in the nursery without her phone and insulin. When Esther returned home she called an ambulance.
In the hospital, nurse Aggie Bailey overheared Mike giving a false name for Summer and contacted Billy who raced to be by her side. Summer has since announced that she's getting her life back on track by applying for university.
"The 1975!" exclaimed Harriet, 24, as she posted a series of photos and video from the arena on Friday night. She looked stunning in a pink silky shirt with a black feather trim skirt. She added pink statement earrings with flicky eyemakeup and a slick of bubblegum-hue lip colour.
champ20099 commented on her Instagram post: "Harriet & Elle bet you had an amazing time, looking beautiful ladies." joshuafenton123 wrote: "Gorgeous." And stutinuk replied: "Omg slay. Do Summer and Amy like the 1975 too?"
Over on Elle's Instagram she said she'd enjoyed "such a good night" with Harriet watching The 1975 from a box, with a cup of tea. In another post she shared a snap of herself holding a brew with the audience in the background.
Holding a cup and saucer she captioned the snap: "Such a good night @the1975 always have a cup of tea obviously." The 20-year-old star, who has played Amy since 2010, looked super-stylish in a black jacket and cargo trousers.
