Coronation Street fans were left puzzled by a police blunder as Peter Barlow was arrested on tonight's show.
The ITV soap aired scenes tonight where an angry Peter Barlow attacked Mr Thorne after finding out that his surgeon had rushed his life-saving operation last year as part of a bet.
Nurse Aggie Bailey initially found out about what happened, and she told the hospital - who confronted Mr Thorne about what was alleged and started an investigation. However, Peter was unimpressed by their decision and decided to take matters into his own hands as he headed to see Mr Thorne and confront him.
As he was goaded by Mr Thorne, Peter landed a punch - and was swiftly arrested by police.
But fans tuning into the ITV soap were puzzled by how quickly the police appeared, given that they had no idea Peter was going to punch Mr Thorne and took to Twitter to express their confusion.
"How quick did the police arrive to arrest Peter? He'd only just punched that bloke and they were there in literally seconds!" one said.
A second added: "You can see that this is NOT REAL LIFE…..police turn up in seconds….and they can get to see a doctor! Amazing! #Corrie," as a third shared: "Flipping heck the police anticipated Peter hitting Thorne...they must've been lurking outside."
"Bloody hell, Wetherfield Police were quick off the mark #Corrie," a fourth wrote.
A fifth penned: "Get burgled. Police turn up in 12 hours. Give someone a slap. 12 seconds. #corrie," with a sixth writing on Twitter: " #corrie WTF where did the police come from, its not a football match."
Last night, Corrie won the Best Soap award at the BAFTAs.
Actress Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Webster, said: "We weren’t expecting this tonight, we really weren’t, so thank you so much Bafta for this award. Working on this show is just a privilege – and the drama and the comedy go so well on Corrie.
"And one of the most important stories we have told this year was the hate crime story. So we would like to dedicate this to Sophie Lancaster and her mother Sylvia Lancaster."
