Coronation Street fans have branded Craig Tinker a "monster" for blackmailing his fiancée Faye Windass.
The ex-copper, played by Colson Smith, 24, was distraught after finding out Faye's ex Jackson Hodge wanted to move to Slough with her and their daughter Miley.
Faye, played by Ellie Leach and Jackson - Joseph William Evans - also shared a kiss, but after her loyal boyfriend Craig proposed, she decided to accept.
Confronting his fiancée about her betrayal, Craig fumed: "How could you do this to me after all I did to protect you?
"You know very well, what I did. You could've gone to prison with all that means for an ex-copper, and I still took that chance.
"All to keep you safe. Because I love you that much. And you go and snog your ex at the first chance you get. How stupid am I?'
He then went on to reveal he was willing to blackmail Faye to stay with him - bribing her with her hit-and-run secret.
Craig continued: "I feel like going down to the station right now and telling them everything.
"And yeah, I'd go down as well but what does it matter because if you go off with him, my life's already over."
Viewers were 'disgusted' by his actions, with one branding Craig a "monster".
Another said: "That's so low" while a third mused: "Craig gaslighting Faye into not leaving him.. Not cool."
The comments come as actress Ellie revealed she is quitting the soap after 12 years.
Ellie was 10 when she took on the role and has been at the centre of some huge storylines, including a teen pregnancy and an attack on Adam Barlow.
In upcoming scenes the character will say farewell to the cobbles, as she leaves her fiancé for a new life away from Weatherfield.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press about her final episode, Ellie confessed it was "emotional" to having been on the soap for most of her life.
She shared: "It was very, very emotional as obviously Faye is leaving the Street after 12 years, but it's me leaving the Street after 12 years as well.
"The saddest part is where she's in the taxi and we just see Craig on his own walking down the street and she's like stop the car, she gets out and says, 'I'll always love you, I always have and I always will'.
"I think it was just so emotional and you do see there's two people here who do love each other, but there are so many other factors, love isn't always enough."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
