Corrie Daniel's 'dark side could return' after Max attacked in break-in horror

Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne could see his "dark side" return after he attacks Max Turner on the ITV soap next week.

In scenes airing next week, Max steals Daniel's keys and lets himself into the flat before he promptly starts to smash up the home, accidentally knocking over and breaking a clay imprint of Daniel's hands alongside his son's and his late wife Sinead's.

Daniel (Rob Mallard) is fuming at Max after realising what he's done and pushes him towards the door of the flat.

Max trips and falls and Daniel is seen looking over Max's apparent lifeless body, unsure what to do next.

However, spoilers reveal he does call the police - but when asked what happened, lies and says Max fell down the stairs.

Now, actor Rob has teased that Daniel could return to some "dark places" during the altercation, having already pushed his father Ken Barlow down the stairs in a huge storyline in 2017 as they rowed over Sinead.

"It's not the first time something's happened with Daniel at the top of a flight of stairs! It's becoming his thing!" he told Digital Spy.

"He's been to some dark places and he doesn't want to go back to them ever again. A lot of that was over Sinead, when he pushed Ken [Barlow] it was over Sinead, so the fact that Max comes in and breaks something of Sinead's is one of those triggers that takes him right back there. I think it does worry Daniel how much Max is able to get a rise out of him."

Rob confessed Daniel is "terrified" about what happened.

"Daniel's terrified, he doesn't know if Max is going to be OK and if he is this will definitely change the power dynamic between them because he doesn't know if Max is going to say he pushed him down the stairs," he added.

Following the fall, Daniel continues to maintain his innocence - but that doesn't stop Max's dad David accosting him in the street and brandishing him a liar. Lydia steps in to stop the row, whilst Daisy watches over, worried for Daniel.

She later comes by to check on Daniel and after a war of words, the pair share a kiss - just as Lydia walks in.
