Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has revealed all on worrying scenes ahead for his character's family, especially young stepdaughter Hope Stape.

The ITV soap airs the "return" of villain John Stape, when he comes back into their lives over a decade on from his death - following his killer crimes being exposed.

Hope is about to learn the full truth about her killer dad next week, as spoilers reveal a book about him and his crimes is released to the public.

Not only that, but Hope comes face-to-face with a cardboard cutout of her killer father at her home, while it's yet to be revealed what happens next.

Now, Tyrone Dobbs actor Alan has spilled all on the moment evil John comes back into the lives of Tyrone and partner Fiz, Hope's mother.

He praised the soap's history as the show revisits the killer storyline, leading to worrying scenes for the family.

Speaking to New magazine, actor Alan said: "We didn't quite know how it was going to work out, but this is the great thing about this show - there is so much history in terms of characters and storylines.

"The fact that his actions can impact Fiz and Tyrone's lives again 11 years later is an incredible part of what makes Coronation Street so great."

Alan went on of Tyron's concern: "It's the fear of the unknown. He doesn't know how Hope is going to react to all this, he doesn't know if this is going to interfere with his and Fiz's relationship, he doesn't know how this is going to disrupt their family life.

"Tyrone feels like he's only just settled back in with Fiz and the kids and he is scared of what might happen next."

The actor also explained why Tyrone is so affected by the book release, and his fears for the future as a result of it going public.

He said: "Both Fiz and Tyrone are really upset because this puts them in a position where they are going to have to speak to Hope about John Stape before they had wanted to. Tyrone is particularly upset about it because he feels like it's out of his control."
