Coronation Street actor Jamie Kenna has revealed that he's really keen to return to the ITV soap as Phill Whittaker.
Phill burst onto the cobbles last year and quickly became a love interest for heartbroken Fiz Stape, who was reeling from the breakdown of her relationship with Tyrone Dobbs. The pair went from strength-to-strength and soon moved in together and got engaged.
However, last month Fiz had second thoughts on their wedding day and ended up rekindling her romance with Tyrone - causing Phill to leave Weatherfield. Taking to Instagram this week, Jamie was keen to thank fans for their support and urged them to continue so that ITV will invite him back.
Speaking in the selfie video, Jamie told his 15.8k followers: "I wanted to come on here, and I’ve been meaning to do it for a few days, for a few reasons. Firstly, just say a massive thank you all for the love you’ve shown big Phill with two Ls. It’s been absolutely mind-blowing.
"I know you’ve been on the Corrie pages saying, 'bring back Phill, why’s he gone?' and some people are genuinely really upset that he’s left, which means the world to me. It really, really does. And fingers crossed they take notice of that and the writers go, 'do you know what, let’s write him another story'."
He added: "You’ve given them enough ideas. Don’t stop though, keep going, because I’d love to go back to the show. I’ve made no secret of that and they know that.
"So fingers crossed, with all your love, help and support, we can get big Phill back on the cobbles."
Fans were quick to comment on the post with one person writing: "Would love to see you back on the street. #bringbackphill."
Another said: "Missing Phil definitely x," while a third added: "All fingers crossed, you were such a great addition to the cobbles."
