Coronavirus cases are soaring in every part of Greater Manchester as infection rates in some areas have risen by over 80 per cent.
The infection rate in Trafford continues to be the highest across the conurbation, with cases continuing to go up in the last week. A rate of 659.1 cases per 100,000 people was recorded there in the week ending March 14, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.
Cases have risen by 83 per cent in the borough week-on-week - the most dramatic weekly increase in the region. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 435.0 cases per 100,000 population, which is still lower than the national average of 709.1 cases per 100,000.

A total of 12,336 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 14. The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 68 per cent in the last week
It comes as coronavirus rates continue to rise in England, Wales and Scotland, according to data from the ONS. In England, around one in 20 people in private households are estimated to have had the virus in the week to March 12, or 2.7 million people – up from one in 25, or 2.1 million people, in the week to March 5.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on March 13, a total of 411 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 76 more than the week before, a rise of 23%.
On Tuesday March 15, there were 10 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.

Deaths
In the week ending March 14, a total of 18 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 5 fewer than the week before.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 922,361 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,819 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Bolton
In Bolton, the number of cases is up by 63 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 336.2 cases per 100,000 population.
There were 969 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending March 14, which was 374 more than the previous seven days.
Bury
In Bury, the latest infection rate is 455.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 57 per cent.
A total of 869 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on March 14, which is 317 more than the week before.
Salford
The trend is up in Salford, where there were 1,091 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 14, which is 438 more than the previous seven days.
That is up by 67 per cent compared to the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Salford is 415.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Stockport
There were 1,893 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 839 more than in the previous week.
The week-on-week trend in Stockport is up by 80 per cent and the latest infection rate is 643.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Wigan
There was a rise of 60 per cent in cases in Wigan over the week ending March 14, and the infection rate is now 390.4 cases per 100,000 population.
Wigan recorded 1,291 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 484 more than the previous week.
Tameside
Tameside saw a total of 914 cases in the week ending March 14, which is 333 more than the previous week. That is a rise of 57 per cent.
In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 402.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Oldham
Oldham is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 302.2 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 718 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 253 more than the previous week - a rise of 54 per cent.
Rochdale
Rochdale, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 647 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 14, which is 288 more than the previous seven days.
The coronavirus infection rate in Rochdale is now 289.3 cases per 100,000 people and is up by 80 per cent week-on-week.
Manchester
Manchester recorded 2378 coronavirus cases, which is 948 more than in the previous seven days.
The latest infection rate in Manchester is 427.9 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 66 per cent week-on-week.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 1566 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 14, which is 712 more than the previous seven days.
Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 83 per cent.
