Coronavirus infection rates have fallen by 40 percent across the region according to latest figures. The number of recorded cases has also continued to drop in all ten Greater Manchester boroughs.
Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate, with a rate of 399.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 9. The lowest infection rate is in Manchester, where the rate is 251.0 cases per 100,000 people.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 311.6 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 420.7 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 8,837 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 9. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 5822 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 40 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 03, a total of 801 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 75 more than the week before, a rise of 10 per cent.
On Tuesday April 05, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer occupied bed than a week earlier, according to the latest figures.

In the week ending April 9, a total of 46 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 0 the same as the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 974,617 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester and a total of 9,051 deaths.

Manchester
Manchester, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 1395 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 9, which is 1195 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Manchester is now 251.0 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 46 per cent week-on-week.
Tameside
Tameside saw a total of 709 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 589 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 45 per cent. In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 312.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Salford
The trend is down in Salford, where there were 834 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 9, which is 569 fewer than the previous 7 days, down by 41 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Salford is 317.5 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Stockport
There were 1131 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 751 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 40 per cent and the latest infection rate is 384.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Bury
In Bury, the latest infection rate is 348.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 32 per cent. A total of 664 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on April 9, which is 316 fewer than the week before.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 950 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 9, which is 580 fewer than the previous 7 days. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 38 per cent.
Oldham
Oldham is an area where the trend is down, with the latest infection rate of 257.1 cases per 100,000 people. There were 611 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 337 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 36 per cent.
Wigan
Wigan recorded 1118 coronavirus cases, which is 654 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Wigan is 338.1 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 37 per cent week-on-week.
Rochdale
There was a fall of 32 per cent in cases in Rochdale over the week ending April 9, and the infection rate is now 294.6 cases per 100,000 population. Rochdale recorded 659 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 314 fewer than the previous week.
Bolton
In Bolton, the number of cases is down by 40 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 265.7 cases per 100,000 population. There were 766 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending April 9, which was 517 fewer than the previous 7 days.
