Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to plummet in all ten Greater Manchester boroughs - however one still has a rate higher than the national average, according to the latest available data.
Stockport continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. The borough recorded a rate of 185.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 24, which is more than the UK's national average of 189.4 cases per 100,000 people.
The lowest infection rate is in Manchester, where the rate is 129.2 cases per 100,000 people. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 156.6 cases per 100,000 population.

A total of 4,440 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 24. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 1694 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 28 per cent in the last week..
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 24, a total of 422 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 270 fewer than the week before, a fall of 178 per cent.
On Tuesday April 26, there were 17 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two fewer than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 24, a total of 56 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 7 fewer than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 986,238 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,185 deaths.

Trafford

Oldham
Oldham is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 135.5 cases per 100,000 people. There were 322 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 97 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 23 per cent.
Stockport
In Stockport, there were 547 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 284 fewer than the previous 7 days. Stockport has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Stockport is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 34 per cent.
Bolton

There were 578 positive tests over the last week in Wigan, which is 204 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Wigan is down by 26 per cent and the latest infection rate is 174.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Manchester
Manchester, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 718 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 341 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Manchester is now 129.2 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 32 per cent week-on-week.
Bury
The trend is down in Bury, where there were 313 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 112 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 26 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Bury is 164.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
