Coronavirus infection rates continue to plummet in all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. A total of 8,479 people tested positive for covid across the region in the week which ended April 10.
That's down by 5,338 cases compared to the previous seven days, which means the infection rate fell 39 per cent week-on-week. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 299.0 cases per 100,000 population.

The national average is 403.8. Trafford, where there are 394.8 cases per 100,000 people, continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. Manchester, where the rate is 234.8 cases per 100,000 people, has the lowest.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending April 10, a total of 715 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 86 fewer than the week before, a fall of 14 per cent. On Tuesday April 12, there were 16 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier. This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.
Deaths
In the week ending April 10, a total of 49 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is one more than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 975,618 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There have been a total of 9,057 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the 10 boroughs
In Bolton , the number of cases is down by 40 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 257.4 cases per 100,000 population. There were 742 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 10, which was 502 fewer than the previous seven days.
Wigan recorded 1,081 coronavirus cases, which is 571 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Wigan is 326.9 cases per 100,000 people. That's down 35 per cent week-on-week.
There was a fall of 33 per cent in cases in Rochdale over the week ending April 10, and the infection rate is now 278.1 cases per 100,000 population. Rochdale recorded 622 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period. That's 310 fewer than the previous week.
Manchester , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 1,305 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 10, which is 1,152 fewer than the previous seven days. The coronavirus infection rate in Manchester is now 234.8 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 47 per cent week-on-week.
There were 1,094 positive tests over the last week in Stockport , which is 643 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 37 per cent and the latest infection rate is 371.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Cases are also falling in Oldham , where the latest infection rate is 245.3 cases per 100,000 people. There were 583 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 303 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 34 per cent.
In Trafford there were 938 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 10, which is 481 fewer than the previous seven days. Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. It's down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 34 per cent.
In Bury the latest infection rate is 331.9 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 33 per cent. A total of 633 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on April 10, which is 316 fewer than the week before.
Tameside saw a total of 674 cases in the week ending April 10, which is 555 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 45 per cent. In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 296.8 cases per 100,000 people.
There there were 807 positive Covid-19 tests in Salford the week ending April 10, which is 505 fewer than the previous seven days. That's down by 38 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate is 307.2 cases per 100,000 people.
