The coronavirus infection rates have continued to fall in nine boroughs of Greater Manchester, but have seen a rise of seven per cent in one local authority area, according to the latest data data.
Manchester saw a total of 516 cases in the week ending May 7, however Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in the region. The borough recorded a rate of 105.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending May 7.
The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 69.4 cases per 100,000 people. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 91.6 cases per 100,000 population - still below than the national average, which is 108.1 cases per 100,000.

A total of 2,597 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on May 7. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 439 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 14 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on May 01, a total of 373 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 49 fewer than the week before, a fall of 15 per cent.
On Tuesday May 03, there were 17 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is the same as a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending May 7, a total of 48 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 1 fewer than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 991,370 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,294 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Wigan
There was a fall of 31 per cent in cases in Wigan over the week ending May 7, and the infection rate is now 91.6 cases per 100,000 population. Wigan recorded 303 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 133 fewer than the previous week.
Bury
In Bury, the number of cases is down by 15 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 90.2 cases per 100,000 population. There were 172 positive Covid-19 tests in Bury in the week ending May 7, which was 30 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Salford
Salford recorded 249 coronavirus cases, which is 25 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Salford is 94.8 cases per 100,000 people and that is down nine per cent week-on-week.
Oldham
Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 165 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 7, which is 66 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 69.4 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 29 per cent week-on-week.
Rochdale
Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 75.1 cases per 100,000 people. There were 168 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 76 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 31 per cent.
Bolton
The trend is down in Bolton, where there were 273 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 7, which is 11 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 4 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Bolton is 94.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 250 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 7, which is 39 fewer than the previous 7 days. Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 13 per cent.
Manchester
Manchester saw a total of 516 cases in the week ending May 7, which is 32 more than the previous week. That is a rise of seven per cent. In Manchester, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 92.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Stockport
There were 285 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 59 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 17 per cent and the latest infection rate is 96.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Tameside
In Tameside, the latest infection rate is 95.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 13 per cent. A total of 216 people tested positive for Covid in Tameside over the seven days ending on May 7, which is 32 fewer than the week before.
