The weather forecast for the Coronation of their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla is unsettled.
Forecasters report that across the country there will be thundery downpours but then outbreaks of sun from today Friday, May 5 and throughout the bank holiday weekend. The Met Office reports that in Merseyside, it will be a cloudy start with outbreaks of showery rain during the morning.
Scattered showers will then develop and could heavy at times and locally thundery. However it will feel warm with temperatures reaching up to 16C.

This trend of showers, followed by sunny spells, will continue throughout the weekend. On the day of the Coronation on Saturday, May 6, after a dry start, showers will develop. It will then turn cloudier through late afternoon with rain arriving from the south.
The outlook from Sunday to Monday is a mixture of brighter spells with scattered showers. Nationally, Saturday is forecast to be another cloudy, wet day for many. Showers are likely to develop in central, eastern, and northern areas, as well as across Northern Ireland, but not expected to be as intense or as heavy as those today on Friday.
Met Office deputy chief forecaster, Steven Keates, said: "A further area of rain is expected to move into southwest England early on Saturday, moving east and north through the day with some heavy bursts at times. This is likely to bring some rain to London by around lunchtime.
"Further north in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland it will be a day of sunshine and showers before the more persistent rain moves northwards overnight. It will feel humid, especially in the south, with highs of 17C possible in London."
