Coronation Street viewers questioned why Cerberus was killed off just before they welcomed Roy's new dog, Freddie.
Freddie made his debut on Monday night and quickly became the centre of attention in the cafe. Glenda, Evelyn and Roy all took a liking to the new pup after his owner, Melvyn, introduced him to the street.
The same evening, Melveyn "took a turn" which resulted in Roy stepping in to take care of Freddie while his owner was in the hospital. He's trying to hide his affection but Roy's liking for the dog is clear to everyone around him.

Freddie's arrival comes just a few weeks after Eveleyn's dog, Cerberus, was killed off. The greyhound scoffed an entire cake from the cafe after it fell to the ground which led to a heart-wrenching goodbye at the vet.
Viewers were distraught by Cerberus' death and with the new addition of Freddy, they're wondering if it was really necessary. One viewer said: "Why couldn't Cerberus and Freddie be together?"
Another added: "What was the point of killing Evelyn's dog just to bring in a new one?" While a third said: "Roy has a dog, after being accused of killing one. God moves in mysterious ways."
Roy attempted to pass Freddie off to a dog shelter but after interjection by the cafe staff, he was eventually convinced to adopt the pup himself.
