Coronation Street ’s Sally Carman and Joe Duttine finally said "I do" in a sweet ceremony. The pair finally got married after previously having their wedding plans on the back burner.
Sally, 40, and Joe, 50 - who play Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe, respectively - announced their lovely news on social media today, alongside a photograph from their special day. Sally - who met her now husband on the ITV soap - took to Instagram to share a snap from her wedding day.
She wore a floor-length light blue gown with long sleeves for the happy occasion, while Joe was also in blue. He accessorised with a flat cap and flowers pinned to his lapel.
The couple look totally loved up as they smooch in front of a circle of balloons, with glasses of bubbly in their hands. Sally simply captioned the snap: "We did", alongside a yellow loveheart.
On Thursday, the actress gave a glimpse of her wedding nails - sharing a snap of her fresh manicure on her Instagram Stories. Famous friends, co-stars and fans have rushed to share their congratulations with the happy couple.
Kimberly Hart-Simpson, who played Nicky Wheatley on the ITV soap, commented: "Oh my loooooooord Yess! Happy ever after."
Samia Longchambon, best known as Maria Connor, also sent her well wishes, writing: "Omg look at you two. Congrats you gorgeous humans."
Waterloo Road actress Rebecca Ryan added: "Congratulations!! So so happy for you both!! You look incredible Sally xxxx"
The soap favourites took their romance to the next level during lockdown, getting engaged after meeting on the cobbles as Coronation Street colleagues in 2018.
Summer 2020 saw the pair surprise fans when Joe announced on social media that they had got engaged. The loved-up pair had initially planned to wed at Christmas-time later this year.
"I’m obsessed with Christmas, so when Joe said: ‘What’s your favourite time, when would you most like to do it?’ it had to be Christmas," Sally previously told the Mirror.
"We’re going to have the wedding late afternoon so it will be dark and it will be lit by rows of Christmas trees and twinkly lights; I can’t wait."
Speaking previously about Joe's romantic lockdown proposal, Sally told Kate Thornton on her podcast White Wine Question Time : "It was while we were in lockdown and we were staying in the Dales with his sister, who has a lot of space, with, his kids.
"And he had just read a Benjamin Meyers book called The Gallows Pole, which Shane Meadows is making into a film right now.
"It's all about these coin forgers and he was banging on about this bloody book for weeks and weeks and weeks and I'm like: 'I'm glad you're enjoying that book, I won't need to read it because you've literally told me everything that happens in it!'
"And we were walking around this big field on this walk and he went: 'Kids, have a look in between the dry stone walling because you know, they used to put coins and precious things to hide them in the walls.
"'You look at that bit Jeanie, and Joseph you look at that thing, Sal why don't you get involved?' I'd had a few beers because you know, that's what we did in lockdown.
"So I'm having a look and there's this box. And I opened it. I'm like: 'No way.' And then there was another box inside. And I turned around and he was on one knee."
Sally made him repeat his proposal so she "could enjoy it again".
And now, two years on, the two stars have now made it down the aisle and tied the knot.
