Coronation Street star confirms exit as actress tells fans 'bye'

Coronation Street’s Lynn Kennedy has wrapped up her short but sweet appearance on the cobbles after causing quite a stir in Weatherfield. The actress confirmed her exit from the soap this week as it was revealed she’s already filmed her last scene as Karen Rutherford, who played a prominent part in the Daisy Midgley acid attack storyline.

Lynn made her first appearance on screen in March as she told Daisy she should be warned about her brother Justin Rutherford, because of some behaviour she’d witnessed that had raised concern. Of course, we all know now things went down a dark route as Justin was Daisy's stalker who tried to throw acid on her on the day of her wedding after growing obsessed with her, but she was saved by her pal Ryan Connor.

Ryan is now struggling with the effects on his own life after he jumped in to protect Daisy from the acid attack. And it was a rant by Carla Connor in the Rovers that gave Karen the ammunition she'd come for when she got an unsuspecting Daisy to trust her when she turned up at the pub ahead of Justin's court case.

Daisy thought Karen was there to offer sympathy, but she was really there to get some dirt to help her sibling and she got it when she gained her trust and hung about the pub to hear Carla reveal Daisy had broken up Ryan and his girlfriend Alya Nazir after she slept with him two years ago. Karen also heard Daisy had lied to Ryan to convince him to hook up with her, and then she ensured Alya knew about the tryst.

Karen then told Justin's lawyer about Daisy's history of manipulation but the jury saw through his lies and on Monday night, they found him guilty.

Lynn told fans on Instagram that her character has now left the cobbles for good as she shared a snap on her stories from backstage and said: "And just like that, Karen's off. Bye @coronationstreet it's been amazing."

Fans were gutted and on a recent post of Lynn's, loopmeinodd1 said: "You were great in corrie, hope we see your character again." And lynseyanne.moffat added: "Fabulous!"

It's unknown if we'll see the Scottish actor at the heart of Corrie's stalking and acid attack storyline again after the dramatic scenes on Monday, but we previously revealed fans are scared of him in real life.

Andrew Still’s chilling portrayal of the deranged and vengeful delivery driver Justin made him one of Weatherfield’s most talked-about villains.

Glaswegian-born Andrew told the Record he’s had a lot of reaction for his character.

He said: “I’ve had a fair few people come up to me in pubs and they are like, ‘Are you the boy off Coronation Street?’ and asking for a photo.

“Everyone has been really nice and they know it’s not real life but I did have one guy come up to me and he was like, ‘You’re really scary!’ He did actually seem a wee bit scared of me! I was like, ‘Honestly mate, that’s not who I am!’”
