Coronation Street actor Steven Meo has bid his farewell to the Cobbles amid the soap's serial killer storyline.
Steven played Rufus on the ITV soap, who met his end in the swimming pool of his luxury home when Stephen drugged him with LSD and pushed him into the pool before drowning him. Rufus had been working alongside Stephen, but the killer wasn't happy with his fellow businessman's constant demands and soon turned against him.
The actor took to social media to thank everyone for their kind words, as well as praising his co-star Todd Boyce - who plays Stephen - describing him as an "absolute dream" to work with on the big storyline.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "I had such a lovely time on the Cobbles. Todd Boyce was an absolute dream to work with. Rufus certainly wasn’t the nicest guy I’ve played, but I had a lot of fun being such a dipstick! #Corrie."
Fans of the soap rushed to social media to praise the actor for his incredible scenes.
"You were outstanding with Todd Boyce. Loved you . #corrie," one wrote, as a second added: "Great character mate, should have worn your life jacket." A third shared: "Two of the loveliest guys I’ve worked with working together on screen."
In some huge scenes on Friday, Rufus was murdered by Stephen - with the images shown as he delivered a sinister monologue.
"So you want to know all my secrets? How about we do this properly and have a drink. So first things first, keeping it simple, you identify your target," he began to tell Michael as he was shown arriving at Rufus' and asking for two minutes to speak with him.
He then went on to tell Michael: "And then when you've done that, you take the initiative, you don't wait for them to come to you," as he was shown being let into Rufus' home before he offered him a drink. Once you've got an in, you work it - not so much that you scare them off, you keep them at their ease but you say whatever you can to reel them in."
As it switched back to the factory, Stephen tells Michael: "You feel like you could do anything, like you're the king of the world."
Could this hint that there are more deaths to come - or is Stephen done with his murdering spree?
