Coronation Street will air the arrival of Jacob's dad next week and his struggles soon become clear.
Jacob ( Jack James Ryan ) has seemed to put his drug dealing past behind him now Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) is in prison. He has moved in with his girlfriend Amy and their friends Summer and Aaron, but things don't stay good for long in Weatherfield.
Next week, Jacob will be left stunned when his father Damon suddenly shows up next week, and quickly makes his feelings very clear. As Damon invites Jacob for a drink, he flatly refuses and Amy is shocked when she realises Damon is his father.
As Amy quizzes Jacob on his dad, he reveals that they haven't been in contact for years and brands him a waste of space. Amy orders Jacob to meet his dad - but he's left angry when he finds out that Harvey got Jacob into drug dealing and put him in hospital.
Worried about what his dad's arrival means for his new life, Jacob warns him away and worries it'll all be destroyed. Later, when he has lunch with Amy, he admits he is resentful of his dad living his life in Ibiza whilst he was stuck mixed up with gangs and drugs.
Damon insists he is there to make it up to Jacob - but is this really why he's there, or does he have an ulterior motive?
Ciaran Griffiths has joined the cast as Jacob's dad Damon and has teased some exciting scenes ahead.
"I'm happy to be back in Manchester to see my family and friends after being away in Australia for the last 3 years. The city has changed so much! And what better way to tie it in with a stint on the Cobbles," Ciaran said of his new role.
"I watched Corrie as a kid and it’s great to be back with some old friends both cast and crew. I’m loving having the opportunity to work with some quality Northern actors whose work I have long admired, particularly on such a complex character like Damon."
Cor onation Street Producer Iain MacLeod added: "Having Ciaran on board is so exciting and especially because the character he is playing is so interesting. Damon is charming and likeable on the surface but we will soon see he is much more complicated than that as he goes on to have an explosive impact, both in Jacob’s life and beyond."
Whatever secrets Damon has to hide, it surely won't be long until they're brought to the surface - and what effects will it have on Jacob, his relationships and his life on the Cobbles as we know it?
