Amy Barlow faces a fresh setback in Coronation Street as she continues to risk a court appearance after outing Aaron Sandford as a rapist. Last month, viewers of the ITV soap saw Amy accused of harassment after spotting former friend Aaron's old flame Mia at the garage, and told her he raped her.
And after later sharing what happened in an online journal, Amy has been slapped with action by Aaron's dad, Eric, who soon appeared at 1 Coronation Street and announced that he was suing Amy for libel. With Tracy and Steve McDonald behind her, they decided not to issue a retraction to satisfy Eric's plans to sue.
Next week, when Amy suggests she could use her inheritance from Deirdre to fund her legal fees, Steve won’t hear of it, adamant that he and Tracy will find the money.

But after a meeting with their solicitor, a fired-up Eric tells Aaron that Amy’s a liar, they’re going to prove it in court and she’ll get her just deserts. However, after a heart-to-heart with Maria, Amy announces she’s going to write a retraction as too many people are suffering.
Amy shows Aaron her written retraction but when he points out that it doesn’t make sense, Amy sees red, telling him it’s hard to make sense of a pack of lies and if he doesn’t like it, he should write it himself and she’ll sign it. As he struggles to write the retraction, Aaron goes back over that night.
