Simon Barlow may be trying to cause trouble on-screen but the actor who plays him looked happier than ever as his girlfriend joined him on the red carpet. Alex Bain was among the soap stars out in Manchester to see the latest musical appearing in the city.
He joined his Corrie pals who were attending the press night for The Addams Family at The Opera House Theatre. And the group of famous faces got to see it before it makes its way off stage soon as a number of future performances have been cut as a result of the pandemic.
Alex, 20, was snapped making his way into the venue looking much different to his on-screen character. His trademark dark locks were still intact with a mustache also making an appearance as he donned a white shirt, black jeans and a matching black denim jacket.
The actor, who has grown up on screen after joining Corrie as the son of Peter Barlow in 2008, posed alongside his stunning girlfriend, Mollie Lockwood. The teen wore a black ensemble under a long-line, camel-colored coat as she carried a Louis Vuitton handbag. The loved-up couple smiled for the cameras, each with a protective arm around one another.
Last year, 13 years after making his debut at Simon, Alex was getting stuck into another big storyline when his character was lured into the dark and murky world of drugs gangs. Now out the other side, Simon's past has come back to haunt him as his cousin Amy Barlow got into a relationship with Jacob Hay, the boy who befriended him into joining the gang in the first place.
Earlier this week, Corrie fans saw Simon make an anonymous call to the police, claiming he saw someone - Jacob - selling what he believed to be drugs on the street when actually he was selling bottles of alcopops he legally brought from Evelyn Plummer after she accidentally ordered too many for Dev Alahan's shop.
Instead of finding Jacob, who did a quick runner, the police found Summer Spellman slumped in Victoria Garden looking like she was drunk. Taken to the police station, things could have ended much worse for the teen as PC Craig Tinker found her in the cell in a diabetic coma.
Things are much different off-screen as Jacob star Jack James Ryan also headed to the theatre alongside Alex but he was joined by his sister, Rebecca Ryan, who left Corrie last month after a three months of playing bunny boiler character Lydia Chambers.
The pair glammed up for the evening with Rebecca still showing off a holiday glow after recently enjoying time away in Pollença in Majorca, Spain. The actress, who is also recognised for playing Debbie Gallagher in Shameless and Gemma Dean in Casualty, looked stunning in a slinky silk dress, adorned with colourful flowers.
Rebecca paired the look with a pair of black boots and a leather jacket to keep the Manchester chill away. She smiled alongside her brother who looked worlds away from Jacob in a smart white shirt, black trousers, and a pair of black suede shoes.
Jack was his elder sister's biggest cheerleader during her time as his co-star on the famous cobbles and admitted to being 'gutted' when she left. He shared a sweet video last month of his older sister being applauded on her last day of filming on the Salford-based soap set as well as posting a TikTok video he made of them together at work and in the car commuting to the set.
There was another Corrie reunion of sorts at the Opera House as two recently departed cast members made an appearance. Kel Allen joined the group just a couple of weeks after her final scenes in the soap aired. Her character, Laura, died from cancer in heartbreaking scenes after taking the rap for Gary and saying she killed her husband Rick, the father of her daughter Kelly.
Alexandra Mardell, who exited the famous street in the back of a taxi to start a new life in Australia with her new boyfriend Jon last month, was also in attendance.
The Emma Brooker actress ditched her character's bright outfits for a khaki green, an all-in-one suit that she paired with a dark blue denim jacket, pair of fresh white converse and an orange Vivianne Westwood bag.
Tanisha Gorey, who plays Corrie's Asha Alahan, also headed to the theatre to catch a glimpse of the show, also posed outside the Opera House before heading inside.
