But what some fans may not know is Sally's real life husband, Tim Dynevor, is a scriptwriter, and he wrote for one of Corrie's rivals until 2016. He was nominated for a BAFTA for his work on Emmerdale in 2008, and his father is former Coronation Street director Gerard Dynevor.
On Tuesday, Sally took to Instagram to write a heartfelt tribute to her hubby. Sharing a photo of the two of them both posing on bicycles, she said: "Best Birthdays are family and with the ones you love @dynevortim".
Sally's Corrie co-stars rushed to wish her well in the comments. Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland, said: "Happy Birthday Sally have a lovely day", while Leanne Tilsley star Jane Danson said: "Happy birthday darling Sal".
Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb, said: "Happy birthday you extraordinary woman! We all love you very much xxx" and Jenny Connor actress Sally Ann Matthews said: "Love, love, more love, love and an extra dollop of love!! x"
