Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews dubbed 'mega babe' by co-star as she's supported over fresh challenge

Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews has been branded a 'mega babe' by her co-star after she shared the fresh challenge she is taking on following a setback. Back in 2021, the actress became her ITV soap colleagues' 'hero' when she set out to run 50 5ks, raising money for five different charities.

She had set herself the challenge the year before for her 50th birthday despite admitting to 'never being remotely sporty'. But after celebrating her big day, the soap star made the decision to keep running and complete 5km runs to match her age over the following year with the aim to raise £5,000.

She was then later joined by a number of her co-stars outside the Corrie set in Media City, Salford, as she finished her final 5km. And now, Sally is ready for her next challenge.

Taking to Instagram, the Jenny Connor actress could be seen smiling for the camera as she sported a bright yellow t-shirt and some black leggings. She was also donning a baseball cap which had been branded with 'MAYDAY' and she went on to explain all in the caption.

"Remember when I ran 50 x 5ks? Well I carried on running but then I got a cold, then another, then I couldn’t be bothered," she shared on Sunday (April 30). "Tomorrow will be Day 1 of my participation in the @rnli ‘s Mayday Mile. It’s a great way to get me running again and raise vital funds for the RNLI."

She added: "If you’ve got a spare quid to help my fundraiser it would be much appreciated. Or sign up yourself and walk, jog, run your way through May!"

@northerngirl_running cheered: "You can do it!" @tonyelflain said: "Goodness me! Well, all that running is doing you a power of good. You look sensational!" @elainexhunter27 shared: "Aww, well done Sal. Good luck for tomorrow and your future runs. You look amazing btw."
