Former Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has announced her newborn son’s name after delivering the little one last month.
The actress, who welcomed her son with Preston footballer Ryan Ledson, 25, announced that they’ve called their little boy Sonny Jude in a new interview.
The 27-year-old told OK! Magazine: “I kept adding names to a list. I liked a lot of names that Ryan didn’t. Some were a bit out there, like ‘Fox’.”
Despite being drawn to more unusual names, Fallon shared that her boyfriend was adamant they weren’t going to choose an “out there” moniker for their baby for fear he would be "ribbed" growing up.
The sports star shared: “When you’re from Liverpool, there was just no chance – he would get ribbed non stop. As the weeks were going on in the pregnancy, we were calling him Sonny.”
According to Baby Centre UK, the name Sonny is derived from the familiar British nickname, son, used to address a young boy.
The star, who played Bethany Platt in the ITV’s soap, announced she was five-months pregnant in September after suffering a miscarriage earlier in the year.
Fallon admitted that the devastating experience made her pregnancy all the more emotional but ultimately led them to welcome their little boy.
She said: “It’s been a roller-coaster of high and low moments, with lots of tears along the way. When Sonny was finally born, we were both sobbing – but happy tears.
"But even though it was an awful time, if we hadn’t gone through the miscarriage, we wouldn’t have Sonny now. It kind of feels like it was all meant to be because if it hadn’t happened, he wouldn’t be him."
The couple announced their son’s arrival in February by posting identical photographs to Instagram, which saw Fallon cradling him in her arms while sitting on a sofa.
Captioning the heartwarming announcement, they simple wrote: “Our beautiful boy. 30/01/2023.”
The TV star and her boyfriend, Redson, started dating in the spring of 2021, four years after they were introduced by mutual friends.
