Gary Windass will prepare to confess to Rick Neelan's murder after the loan shark's dead body is discovered next week on Coronation Street.
Rick, played by Greg Wood, made his first appearance in Weatherfield back in 2009 to torment Joe McIntyre, who had been suffering from mountain debts after his business struggled.
Joe - who was Gail's fourth husband and Tina's dad - owed Rick £5,000 and had his van taken by the loan shark as payment.
After further threats, Joe paid Rick another £4,000 before trying to stage his own death for a life insurance scam. Tragically, Joe accidentally ended up taking his life.
Police questioned Rick at the time about Joe's death, but they were satisfied that he had nothing to do with it.
Rick returned again in 2012, but this time to torment Tommy Duckworth over his dad Terry's £20,000 debt and tried to get Tommy to become a drugs mule for him.
The loan shark later kidnapped Rita, threatening to throw her into the canal, before being captured by police and was thrown in jail.
In 2019, he returned to Weatherfield for the final time after being released from prison to demand the money he was owed by Gary.
After being beaten up and threatened by the loan shark on numerous occasions, Gary was lured out to the woodland after Rick claimed that he had Sarah, who was his girlfriend at the time.
Gary had discovered a grave, which Rick had dug in a plan to bury him after killing him.
After a furious fight between them, Gary managed to come out on top and it later emerged that he had killed Rick.
The loan shark went 'missing' and Gary took over the loan shark business, with Rick's daughter Kelly and wife Laura believing that he was on the run from the police.
But next week on the ITV soap, Kelly is left horrified when she discovers on her phone that the police are at County's new training ground searching for a body.
Gary and Maria struggle to mask their panic.
When a body is discovered at the construction site, Kelly is desperately hoping that her dad is still alive - but DS Beckett dashes her hopes as they confirm that they've found Rick's body.
Kelly breaks down and later confides in Maria about how she feels both her parents have let her down.
Gary, left feeling overwhelmed with guilt, tells Maria that he wants to confess to Rick's murder.
Maria is horrified and does her best to beg Gary to reconsider as she tells him that he will end up destroying their family and Kelly's life....
