Coronation Street favourite Stu Carpenter had his killer past unveiled during last week's episodes of the Virgin Media soap.
Viewers watched as his ex-wife Lucy fumed that Stu killed a woman called Charlie Walter after they had an affair.
But fans now think they've twigged the real murderer, believing it's not Stu at all - despite his apparent confession.

Eagle-eyed viewers instead think that Stu is covering up the truth to protect the real murderer, who some have claimed is his daughter Bridget, Daily Star reports.
It had previously been revealed that Bridget has a child, Stu’s granddaughter, which could hint at why he’s kept her secret for so long if he wanted her to grow up in a stable home.
The fact that the pair share the same DNA could explain why Stu’s was found at the scene.
Taking to Twitter to air their theories, one fan said: “Our working #Corrie theory is the Stu's daughter killed that girl and he took the blame for it to protect her.”
“I think Stu believed his daughter killed that girl & confessed to protect her. If that is true does he still believe it?” someone else wondered.
A third said: “I bet Stu’s daughter killed the girl and he is covering up for her, that’s why his DNA was found at the scene.”
As a fourth penned: “I reckon Stu’s daughter either killed the girl or Stu thinks she did and that’s why he confessed.”
And someone added: “Prediction - what if Stu's daughter actually found out about his alleged affair & is the one who really killed his mistresses.
“Stu found out & as any parent would take the fall? Kinda makes sense no? Just can't bear to think of Stu as a bad guy too, not after Geoff!”
However, it might not be so cut and dry, as his ex-wife Lucy’s name has also been thrown into the ring.
One Twitter user guessed: “Maybe it's Stu's ex that killed he girl. He thinks it was his daughter, she thinks it was him and her mum's happy to let her think it was him to keep them apart and stop them finding out the truth…”
As someone else agreed: “Stu’s ex wife or daughter found out about the affair and one of them killed the girl and he knows it so admitted to the crime to protect them.”
That would make an extra layer of sense if Stu had been having an affair with Charlie and Lucy discovered their fling - sending her into a fit of jealous rage.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Virgin Media One at 8pm.
