Coronation Street fans 'work out Aaron's dark secret' after cryptic phone call

Coronation Street viewers believe they have worked out what is going on with Aaron on the ITV soap.

The newcomer recently began dating Summer Spellman, while his behaviour has sparked confusion.

As well as appearing secretive, the character has had to dash off at times, and on Wednesday it seemed there was more going on behind the scenes.

Aaron flinched when Summer tickled him, and he soon claimed he had been jumped and attacked in the street.

As he showed Summer the severe bruising to his stomach and side, she was horrified and urged him to get help.

It certainly looked painful, and Summer advised he saw a doctor at the walk-in clinic, and told him to report it to the police.

Aaron got annoyed though and stormed out, telling her she "wasn't listening to him".

He later decided to make amends with Summer, heading to her house to speak with her.

Suddenly, Aaron took a phone call and it was clear the person on the other end of the line was being threatening.

Aaron seemed scared of whoever it was, and it sounded like he was being controlled.

Corrie viewers saw newcomer Aaron hiding something from girlfriend Summer, before he revealed nasty bruising on his stomach (ITV)

He said: "Five? I thought you said it was... sorry, okay, I'll come now. No please don't, I'll leave now, right now.

"Sorry it's my mistake, I just got mixed up."

As Summer walked in, just as whoever it was hung up the phone, Aaron pretended he was calling the police and reporting his attack.

Aaron then raced off claiming he had somewhere to be, while he was clearly uncomfortable.

As viewers watched the scenes unfold, they predicted that something sinister was going on with Aaron.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "Think his dad is abusing him."

Another tweeted: "I feel like Aaron’s being physically abused by his father or something along those lines."

A third added: "I suspect Aaron is being beaten up by his father."

Meanwhile, one worried fan said: "I think he’s doing it to himself," which another fan echoed: "Is Aaron hurting himself?"
