Coronation Street fans point out same blunder as Elaine rushed to hospital after being left for dead by Stephen

Coronation Street fans think they have spotted an obvious blunder as Elaine Metcalfe ended up in hospital after being drugged by Stephen Reid. Elaine is completely unaware that her future husband has taken out a life insurance policy in her name as he tries to raise the cash to buy Carla Connor's shares in Underworld.

Earlier this week, viewers of the ITV soap saw rival businessman Owen Longford, who is currently in line to take over the factor discover that Stephen has been scheming to ruin his romantic chances with Jenny Connor. During their confrontation, Owen vowed to fire him from the factory as soon as the contracts are signed.

But Stephen responds by talking to Carla in private, urging her to reconsider the sale of the factory before eventually agreeing that she'll consider letting him buy her out - if he comes up with the money. Letting his frustrations get the better of him, Stephen furiously trashed the factory floor after sending staff home. Back at home, Stephen suggested again to Elaine that they should buy Carla’s share of the business.

But when she snapped at him and spells out that she will never invest a penny in the factory and they should simply enjoy their retirement, Stephen masks his fury - until later when he replaced her blood pressure pills with caffeine pills.

During Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles (June 14), Stephen realised the blood pressure pills he had replaced with caffeine pills weren't quite working fast enough and resorted to lacing Elaine's tea which he has form for having done this to his boss Carla but with LSD.

His future wife then took a funny turn and Stephen swiftly made an made an excuse to get out of the house at the same time Elaine finally collapsed and hit her head as she fell. The businessman and secret serial killer then arrived bac in time to find Elaine unconscious, but quietly backed out of their home to keep him from getting caught.

Later, he saw Sally Matcalfe in the street beside an ambulance who informed him Elaine had been found after she somehow regained consciousness after her tumble and was able to call 999 for help. Over at the hospital, son Tim eventually arrived and Elaine explained that she'd felt dizzy and had to call for help.

As Tim continued to fuss about his mum's near-death experience, Stephen appeared disappointed as the doctor announced the good news that Elaine would be able to return home the following day. But Tim appeared to be onto Stephen as he shared his concerns with Sally as he was confused about Stephen's explanation for where he was at the time of Elaine's collapse.

While Sally shut down her husband's speculation, Tim told her: "I've got a funny feeling… I'm telling you, there's something that just doesn't add up about his story..."

And while it's left some Corrie fans wondering if Tim could be the one to help bring Stephen down once and for all, others were left pointing out the same issue when it came to the hospital's treatment for Elaine.

@lauren.moss.50 said: "You're telling me the doctors won’t do tests and find different drugs in her." @janmac1958 commented: "Does none of these Dr's do blood tests." @Johnboy710Fble tweeted: "Why do no doctors in this hospital do blood tests. Every time I’ve been in hospital that’s the first thing that they do #Corrie."

And when the mere mention of the check was given on-screen, @MatthewMitt6 wrote: "Blood tests? Blood tests? Finally thought they didn't exist on the cobbles #corrie." But the results clearly didn't matter as @fansvfavourites noted: "You mean they haven’t found all the excess caffeine in her blood #Corrie."
