Coronation Street viewers were shocked to discover Paula Wilcox's age in comparison to her co-star Sue Nicholls.
Paula, 73, plays the role of Elaine Jones on the long-running ITV soap and has been for the last three years.
Her character, who is the mother of Tim Metcalfe, is about to marry serial killer Stephen Reid - played by Todd Boyce.
She has no clue about the truth behind Stephen and the duo were recently seen having a consultation ahead of their nuptials.
Elaine's son, Tim, isn't happy with the idea of his mother getting married but went along to the consultation along with Stephen's mother Audrey Roberts.
Viewers were lost for words when they discovered Elaine and Audrey are close in age.
Paula is currently 73 years old, while actress Sue is 79.
With the ages in mind, viewers rushed to social media to discuss the strangeness of Audrey becoming Elaine's mother-in-law.
One user posted: "Woah... Audrey is going to be Elaine's mother-in-law. I just realised."
"There are only 6 years between Audrey and Elaine (as actresses)," another shocked fan pointed out.
"I'm stunned I didn't realise how Elaine and Audrey are practically the same age," one soap fan commented.
Elaine, who was estranged from Tim for a long time, hasn't had the best luck with men as she previously suffered at the hands of evil Geoff Metcalfe before fleeing his abuse after becoming frightened for her life.
However, she was forced to leave her son behind.
Tim was told by his dad that Elaine had died from cancer, but the mother and son reunited after Elaine came out of hiding to help Geoff's third wife Yasmeen Nazir.
Yasmeen had also been abused by Geoff until he fell to his death from a roof trying while trying to attack her.
It looked like things were finally looking up for Elaine after she was able to develop a good relationship with her son until she got engaged to serial killer Stephen.
Elaine's future is still up in the air but it doesn't look good for her as soap bosses previously confirmed that the serial killer will be swiftly moving on to pursue Jenny Connor in the next few weeks.
