Coronation Street viewers fumed as they watched Amy Barlow be told by police that she doesn't have a case after reporting her rape.
Fans said she was being "victim-blamed" after she went to the police only to be turned away.
Aaron Sandford had sex with Amy while she was passed out following a day of heavy drinking but she did not give him consent to do so.
When Amy confronted him about raping her, he lied and said she instigated things and that they were as drunk as each other.
Amy struggled since the horrific incident and has kept her ordeal to herself, but this week her loved ones began noticing something was wrong and she told the truth.
She ended up going to the police but was told that they would be taking no further action against the rapist.
Earlier, a policewoman shamed Amy for having sex in a club and said: "Did you often do that?"
The police officer also talked about the meal that Amy and rapist Aaron attended the next day and used it as proof of no rape taking place.
"You’re trying to make out that I’m the one in the wrong here," Amy said before leaving to go home.
Fans were furious at the outcome of it and rushed to social media to complain.
"The storyline Amy's rape is victim blaming, saw a program @channel5 last night, the Black Cab rapist, he drugged the women, when some of the women reported him, he told the police they were drunk, police believed him, he went on to rape 105 women, his name John Worboys," one said, referencing a show they watched.
Another said: "Police drop rape case. Is anyone surprised ? Policewoman told Aaron to "take care !" Didn't say that to Amy."
"The police to Aaron “you take care yeah?” The police woman give more comfort to the rapist than they did to Amy.. @itvcorrie that was shocking," one complained.
One fumed: "amy’s story is so heartbreaking right down to the victim blaming attitudes of the police. it’s horrendous that this is very much true to life & as women we are the ones expected to dress appropriately or put up a better fight rather than men being taught the concept of consent."
