A popular vintage-inspired fashion brand has launched a clothing line in collaboration with Manchester-filmed soap Coronation Street and it’s as nostalgic and cosy as you’d imagine. The Joanie clothing range references some of the ITV soap’s most popular businesses from the cobbles, with prices starting from £25.
Among the curated edit from the Manchester clothing brand is a retro tee that pays homage to the shows long-time cafe owner Roy Cropper - but some eagle-eyed fans have spotted a ‘grammatical error’.
The £25 ringer tee, which comes in sizes small to XXL, features a 70s style logo with the words ‘Roys Rolls’ on the front, and appears to be missing the apostrophe as seen on the front of the Roy’s Rolls cafe.

One Instagram user commented: “Please, please just put the apostrophe in Roy’s”, with another adding: “I LOVE this idea / collection but when I saw the lack of apostrophe in Roy’s Rolls, I knew Roy would be devastated.”
A third wrote: “Joanie I love you, and loving this Corrie range, but the lack of apostrophe on this t-shirt is something that I can’t see past.”
However, Joanie has explained that it’s a deliberate design that perhaps only the most loyal Corrie fans would know.
The brand said: “The Cropper Tee is crafted from super-soft organic cotton and features a red Roys Rolls logo design against a vintage off-white background. We chose the official, lesser-seen retro version of the logo as featured on the café's menu.”
Other fans were willing to embrace the design - apostrophe or not - adding: “Love that you’ve prepared a statement in anticipation of people’s meltdowns over the lack of apostrophe,” with another writing: “I am obsessed with this and couldn’t give a shiny plop about the apostrophe.”
The limited Coronation Street x Joanie collaboration range launched online last week on June 21, and features six pieces, each named after notable characters and families who have graced the cobbles over the last 63 years.
As well as the Cropper tee, there’s also a Duckworth shirt featuring illustrations of best-loved shops and pubs on the street, with a McDonald dress in the same responsible fabric - which has pockets.
In addition, there’s a Gilroy Retro Newton And Ridley sweatshirt, named after former landlord of the Rovers Return, Alec Gilroy, a redbrick print knit named after grumpy legend man, Albert Tatlock and finally, a Holdsworth Freshco sweatshirt, named after eccentric supermarket manager Reginald Holdsworth.
Shoppers have loved the latest launch, with one commenting on Instagram: “I’ve never clicked ‘order’ faster in my life.” Another joked: “If I don’t get my hands on a Roy’s Rolls t shirt I might die, not to be dramatic.”
Speaking on the launch, Joanie Brand Director, Lucy, said: "Working on a collab with Coronation Street has been such fun.
"I really enjoyed working with the producers to ensure the devil was in the detail – from making sure the window lintels to the famous terrace were perfectly accurate, matching the window graphics in Dev’s corner shop to ensure continuity, to making sure Norris’ paperboy was standing outside the Kabin was a dream job for me.
"We wanted to create wearable, tongue-in-cheek products that would feel like they had come out of a vintage store rather than a gift shop.
"Our exclusive Coronation Street all-over print was lovingly created to make people take a second look and start a fun conversation when someone notices the details!”
