Faye Windass' ex-boyfriend Jackson Hodge has returned to Coronation Street with their daughter Miley but ITV viewers were left baffled over the surprising recast.
Jackson is now played by Joseph Evans after taking over from Rhys Cadman who featured on the soap between 2015 and 2017.
Faye (Ellie Leah) gave birth to Miley eight years ago and Jackson, who at 21 is the same age as Faye, stepped in along with his parents when she struggled with coming to terms with being a mother.
In Friday's instalment, Jackson arrived at Sally Metcalfe ( Sally Dynevor ) and Tim Metcalfe's (Joe Duttine) door looking for Faye, before admitting she had been ignoring his texts.
Coronation Street viewers quickly took to Twitter to comment on Jackson's appearance and his supposed age.
One confused viewer tweeted: "Bad recast… why does Jackson look so old compared to Faye #corrie," while another said: "Sorry but Jackson is supposed to be 20/1 and Miley is supposed to be around 7 #corrie."
Someone else said: "Why does Jackson look like a 30yo man...he def doesn't look the same age as faye #corrie," and another agreed: "The last Jackson had a really baby face I’m sure of it now he looks like he’s been working outside for twenty years #Corrie."
"Why does Jackson look 35? Isn't he meant to be Faye's age? #Corrie #CoronationStreet," one fan questioned.
Another remarked: "Jackson goes away as a kid and comes back a middle aged man? #corrie."
Faye star Ellie recently opened up on the new storyline as she explained why her character struggles with the news that her daughter has returned to the UK from Canada.
"Faye’s biggest fear is that Miley won’t like her and will resent her for abandoning her and Jackson.
"Faye is also worried about meeting Miley and realising that she loves her so much that she can’t let her go again. Faye is scared that she will build a bond with Miley and it will be taken away from her again."
She continued: "Faye will try to be a mum to Miley for as long as she is in Weatherfield but it would be playing on her mind that Miley might go back to Canada and she would be constantly thinking about when that may be."
The actress, however, is thrilled with the storyline and added: "I was really excited [when I was told about the story]. I feel like it will be good for Faye to try and build a bond with her daughter after she has had so much heartbreak over the years.
"Faye has had such a tough time and it would be great for Faye to have a relationship with Miley."
Coronation Street airs on ITV on Monday,Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
