Scotland's capital is gearing up to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, with a host of both community and official events for locals to attend.
The centrepiece of Edinburgh's celebration will be a live screening of proceedings, which will see the King will officially mark his reign at Westminster Abbey.
The screening, which takes place in West Princes Street Gardens on both May 6 and May 7 at the Ross Bandstand, will be free and open to all.
Edinburgh's Lord Provost Robert Aldridge said: "The Coronation of King Charles is a truly historic event and we're proud to be joining in with screenings and services in towns and cities across the United Kingdom for those who wish to come together and celebrate the occasion.
"Watching the ceremony and celebrations on the big screen will be a great way for people to be involved and soak up the atmosphere of the extraordinary weekend."
How to watch live screening in Edinburgh
West Princes Street Gardens is near Edinburgh Waverly station. If you leave the station onto Princes Street and head Easy, you will see the garden to your left almost straight away.
On Saturday May 6, the gardens will open to the public, allowing people to gather and watch the crowning of the King alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort as it happens.
And on Sunday May 7, the screen will remain in place and broadcast The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.
Edinburgh has also been revealed as a location for Lighting up the Nation, which will see a choreographed display of light on Sunday 7th of May in Princes Street Gardens.
Entry is free and un-ticketed, according to The City of Edinburgh Council, and has been supported by the UK Government Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
People are encouraged to bring their own picnics, however nearby Scott's café will be open and can provide take-away food and beverages.
As the event is outdoors, it may be worthwhile bringing a jacket as the Met Office are currently predicting a mixed bag of conditions on both Saturday and Sunday.
Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Steven Keates, explains: "On Saturday we will see showers developing from late morning in some central, eastern and northern areas, but also with some sunny spells through the day."
On Sunday, when the Coronation Concert is due to take place, the driest and brightest weather looks set for parts of northern Scotland, say the forecasters.
The city's council adds that toilet facilities will be available, extra litter bins will be in place and BBQs will not be permitted.
Additionally, Gun salutes will take place at Edinburgh castle to mark the occasion, and the Royal Standard will fly over St Andrew’s House, the Scottish Government’s headquarters, throughout the coronation weekend.
