A new monarch taking the throne is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The last time it happened was 70 years ago, in 1953.
King Charles III and his Queen Consort are approaching their coronation, which is set to take place tomorrow, May 6.
To mark the occasion, we’ve all been given an extra bank holiday this weekend, between May 6 and May 8.
From street parties to family picnics, coronation-themed fare will be enjoyed as communities come together to celebrate the historic moment.
But what special edition supermarket food and drink can you get your hands on?
Sainsbury’s
The supermarket giant has revealed an exciting list of coronation launches across their desserts and drinks.
From 85p Coronation Crown biscuits and £1.35 Coronation Doughnuts to the £8 King Wiggles cake complete with a crown and union flag decorations, there is a joyful dessert on offer for everyone.
Those who love a tipple will also have a choice of £22 Coronation English Sparkling Wine, the £10 Coronation Orange Gin Liqueur, and the £2.50 Coronation Ale.
And last week, they launched Strawberries and Cream Custard Cream biscuits for the event, for 60p a pack.
Tesco
Tesco has unveiled a wide range of special-edition products to help the nation mark the occasion.
Its Coronation range includes the £3.50 Tesco Finest Coronation Prawn Sandwich, the £2.60 Coronation Chicken Sandwich, and the £4 Tesco Finest Coronation Pork Pie.
Those with a sweet tooth will get to pick between the Tesco Finest Coronation Raspberry and Peach Bellini Trifle for £9, the Tesco King’s Coronation Celebration Cake at £8, and the Coronation Tin All Butter Shortbread Petticoat Tails for £5.
Morrisons
Morrisons has revealed its range of quintessentially British sweet treats, including a Party Like a Royal giant cookie for £7 and nine themed cupcakes for £5. You can also pick up a McVitie’s Coronation Tin complete with Royal designs.
As for the joyful celebration picnics, food lovers will get to pick between four £10 grazing boxes and platters that serve six to eight people. These are the Continental Grazing Box, the Savoury Grazing Box, the Spicy Grazing Platter, and the Small Cheese Box.
Freshly prepared Market Street Coronation Chicken Baguettes for £2.50, filled with tangy coronation chicken, crisp cucumbers, and crunchy spinach, are also available for sandwich lovers.
And, the mains that are fit for a king are the supermarket’s crown-shaped pork pie selling for £6.50 and Coronation Quiche for £3.

M&S has launched a wide range of coronation items, from homeware to clothes and gifts.
Food-wise, there are limited-edition commemorative tins filled with all-butter shortbreads or tea bags starting at £5 to celebrate the new king, as well as a £10 Ham Sausage Roll embossed with HM, £6 Crown Pork Sausage Rolls and £7 Mini Chutney Topped Crown Pork Pies.
And, you can get your hands on a £55 coronation afternoon tea hamper packed full of goodies, or indulge in the celebration hamper with prosecco for £120.
King of Everything Chocolates for £3, the Coronation Sponge Cake costing £10, or the Coronation Chicken Handcooked Crisps for £1.50 will be the perfect treats for the long weekend.
To mark the occasion, the supermarket has released a £23 Coronation Cuvee NV and a £3 Coronation Ale, too.
ASDA
For your main, ASDA is offering King Size Beef Burgers for £4, Coronation Chicken Breast Steaks for £4.40, and King Size Pork Sausages for £2.50. Or, you can feed your inner child with Golden Breaded Chicken Crowns for £3.
Those throwing a party will be spoiled for choices. From Asda’s King Coronation Pork Pie for £5 to the ASDA 65-piece Sharing Selection that includes savoury eggs, chicken kiev bites and more for £5.50, there is something for everyone.
For snacks, the supermarket is selling Coronation Coins for £1 and Coronation Chicken Handcoked Crisps for £1.35, to name a couple.
The meal will be complete with a dessert from the bakery section. Whether you opt for the Coronation Celebration Cake (£12), the Coronation Tray Bake (£6.50), Coronation Gingerbread Crown (65p) or something else, your sweet tooth is sure to be satisfied.
Iceland
Iceland has revealed a series of themed food launches for the Coronation weekend, including their Coronation Chicken Yorkshire Puddings for £3.75 and a four-pack of Coronation chicken pies for £2.75.
These can be accompanied by Iceland’s numerous celebratory nibbles, including their 16-piece mozzarella sticks, 10-piece tempura prawns, and 14-piece cheese and garlic bites, costing £2.50 apiece.
As for dessert, foodies will get to pick between their Luxury Strawberry and Cream Roulade for £5.50 and the Trifle Gateau Bar for £2.50.
The supermarket giant will also offer customers Royal bundles for those who want a Coronation picnic without having to spend time fussing over what to take.
Waitrose
Waitrose customers are in for a treat as the beloved supermarket chain has launched a series of special editions, including a £9.50 Jewel the Jack Russell Cake that sports a regal crown in support of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Shoppers will also get to take home a Coronation Shortbread Tin for £10, a Dutchy Organic Sweet Selection Shortbread Box for £9, and Waitrose’s Coronation Mixed Berry and Bramley Apple Preserve for £3.45, to have a chic afternoon tea at home.
While Silent Pool Gin has handcrafted a unique Coronation edition bottle exclusive to Waitrose using 24 botanicals from the Surrey hills, which is £45.
Aldi
Aldi is offering customers brand new Breaded Chicken Crowns for £2.99, Specially Selected Coronation Chicken Pizza for £4.29, Coronation Chicken Kebabs for £2.99, and Mini Coronation Chicken Kievs for £3.29.
For a sweet treat, the supermarket is selling 99p Coronation biscuits and £2.59 King’s Coronation Cupcakes that include six royally iced cupcakes.
And, to wash it all down, shoppers can enjoy King’s Coronation Beers for £1.79 a bottle.
Fortnum & Mason
Fortnum & Mason have launched numerous limited edition Coronation items across their various ranges to commemorate the special occasion.
Those who love a cuppa will be delighted to know that they can now get their hands on the Coronation Pineapple and Coconut Infusion Tea for £12.95 or the Coronation Organic Darjeeling Tea Tin for £19.95. Coffee lovers, on the other hand, can opt for the Coronation Blend Ground Coffee Tin (£18.95).
If you’re after something a bit more bubbly than that, Fortnum and Mason’s Coronation English Sparkling Blancs de Blancs (£42.50) or Coronation Brut Selection Champagne (£45) might be for you.
As for food, the brand has released a Coronation English Berries Summer Preserve (£9.95), a Coronation Stilton Jar (£25), and a Coronation Caledonia Fruit Cake (£39.95).

The beloved Yorkshire-based sausage maker has released Coronation Chicken Chipolatas that are “seasoned with love in honour of King Charles”. The pack of 10 sausages is selling for £3.20 per pack and is available in Tesco stores across the nation.
Heinz
The condiment giant has launched special Coronation-themed versions of their classics, including Heinz King-chup, instead of ketchup, which comes as part of a coronation bundle. The bundle also includes an apron, and coasters adorned with Coronation-themed art.
Cadbury and Fry
Cadbury and Fry have launched limited edition collectible ranges of their chocolates in time for the Coronation. The new designs adorn the Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Bournville, Fry’s Cream, and Fry’s Turkish Delight bars with a crown design.
Belvoir Farm
The beverage brand has released limited edition Coronation bottles for their Elderflower Cordial, selling for £4.50, and Lightly Sparkling Elderflower drink, costing £3.50. It is available across all supermarkets.
PIMM’S
The quintessentially British tipple has released a regally-inspired limited edition design of its iconic bottle, selling for £16.50.
It features an illustrated crown-shaped design with Buckingham Palace at its heart, decked with purple and gold bunting.
