A Cornish superyacht maintenance business is set to open a new US office as it continues its international expansion.
Falmouth-based Lizard Yacht Service, which sources and fits parts for the luxury vessels, will establish a new base at the renowned yachting hotspot of Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
It comes after the company, which was set up by engineer Emlyn Jones in the spring of 2021, opened an office in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
In a short space of time the company said it had also landed “major projects” in Antigua and Turkey, securing exclusive distribution rights and servicing deals.
The firm added that its expansion into the US marketplaces had come as a new marina development had been commissioned at Fort Lauderdale within the last year, to help meet increasing demand from superyacht customers.
Mr Jones, the managing director of Lizard Yacht Service, said: “This is a really exciting development for us. The superyacht industry is continuing to grow worldwide.
“Superyacht customers have very exacting requirements and we have built our company ethos around delivering the stellar levels of customer service they expect.”
The new office in Fort Lauderdale will be headed up by Freddy Quintero, an engineer with many years of experience in the superyacht sector in the US. The office will service customers south of Savannah in Georgia and throughout the Caribbean islands.
Mr Quintero said: “Lizard Yacht Service will bring outstanding levels of service to the US superyacht industry, and I am delighted to become part of their team.“
