Cornell Protesters Smash Day Hall Door Over Alleged Gang Rape and Accuse University of Protecting 'Rapists'

Day Hall became a focal point as Cornell faced growing pressure over a former student’s lawsuit alleging a 2024 sexual assault involving former Chi Phi members (Credit: Screenshot/FOX NEWS/Youtube)

Cornell University is investigating damage to Day Hall after an anonymous group claimed responsibility for smashing a glass entrance door and painting slogans accusing the university of protecting rapists. The graffiti included 'AT CORNELL RAPISTS ARE PROTECTED PROTESTORS ARE EXPELLED' and 'SMASH THE PATRIARCHY'.

The damage occurred early on 5 October amid protests over a former student's civil lawsuit alleging that she was drugged and sexually assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house in October 2024. The graffiti expresses the anonymous group's accusation; it does not establish that the defendants committed rape or that Cornell protected perpetrators.
