Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten has reopened the criminal investigation into allegations involving seven Cornell fraternity members, as viral X posts separately claim to identify the plaintiff referred to by the pseudonym 'Jane Doe' in a civil lawsuit.

Van Houten said he had reached out to Jane Doe's attorneys and assigned a senior prosecutor to prepare the matter for possible presentation to a Tompkins County grand jury. The civil complaint alleges sexual assaults at Cornell University's Chi Phi fraternity in October 2024.
