The “Cornell 7” case, in which seven Chi Phi fraternity brothers allegedly took part in the gang-rape of a young woman, has generated an enormous amount of fury and controversy across the political spectrum. Many were outraged at a punishment that appeared to amount to a slap on the wrist for the seven men involved. Others have simply decided that the woman, known as Jane Doe, is a liar.
The controversy swirling around the case doesn’t look likely to end anytime soon, particularly as Governor of New York Kathy Hochul has said she’s lost confidence in local law enforcement and appointed state Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor. But, even against all the previous anger, a new development reported by ABC News is likely to stoke the flames even higher.
