After medics rushed into it became apparent they would be unable to bring them them down the stairs so alternative routes were considered.
Cork City Fire Brigade closed off the road from Alibi to The Kino to allow them to use an aerial platform to extract the patient from the second floor window before handing them into the care of the National Ambulance Service.
The patient was taken to hospital after the complicated rescue operation.
The road has since reopened.
Two Cork City fire trucks, the rapid response van, and two ambulances were seen at the scene.
Traffic has now eased in the area however there are still a few knock-on delays.
