A Cork restaurant owner was a "true gentleman" and a "lovely man", it has been said, after his sad passing.
John O'Connor Sr was the owner and founder of Tony's Bistro, a popular cafe on North Main Street, just off the English Market in the southern city.
He died peacefully on Monday in the Mercy hospital, with his passing being confirmed on the restaurant's social media.

Upon hearing the news, friends, family and customers paid tribute to the father-of-six.
One person took to Facebook to write: "He was a lovely man." with others agreeing that "John was a true gentleman" and "a really lovely guy always & he used to love meeting people."
Others who knew him wrote: "My condolences to all the O Connor family on the death of their beautiful gentle kindest father. It was a privilege to know John," and "a gentleman who always had a smile."
Cork RedFM radio presenter also took time to pay tribute on Twitter.
John's official death notice reads: "Beloved husband of the late Kathleen and loving father of Jonathan, Lorraine, Catríona, Michelle, James and Jordan.
"Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers James and Pat, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
His funeral details are as follows: "Reposing in Coburg Street Funeral Home, of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd. on Tuesday (March 22nd) from 4.00pm to 5.00pm followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Whitechurch arriving for 6.00pm
"Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Wednesday (March 23rd).
"Funeral afterwards to St Catherine’s Cemetery, Kilcully."
