Cops make 10 Old Firm arrests over 'sectarian comments' and 'mass brawl'

Ten people have been arrested after Celtic's win against Rangers amid reports of a mass brawl and sectarian abuse.

Six men were nicked at Parkhead Stadium on Wednesday night during the Scottish Premiership clash.

Five were cuffed for alleged breach of the peace, while one was arrested in connection with 'sectarian comments'.

One of the men arrested is an 18-year-old, two others are both 21.

The remaining three are aged 23, 29 and 57 according to the Scottish Sun.

A police spokesperson said: "Five men were arrested for various breach of the peace and public order offences.

"One man was arrested in connection with sectarian comments."

Shortly before kick-off officers were called to reports of a disturbance in nearby Duke Street, outside The Alexandra Pub.

The alleged 'mass braw' saw three men arrested; aged 19, 22 and 23.

Post-match carnage reportedly continued when officers received reports of a second 'disturbance' in Duke Street.

Officers already in the area, were alerted to the incident just before 11pm where a 'group' was 'dispersed'.

A 16-year-old man was arrested in connection with the second incident which police are still probing.

A police spokesperson told the Record: "At around 7pm on Wednesday, February 2 officers responded to a disturbance on Duke Street, Glasgow, outside the Alexandra Bar.

“Three men, aged 19, 22, 23, were arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

“A second disturbance then occurred in the same location on Duke Street, around 10.50pm later that same evening.

“Officers already in attendance prevented escalation and the group dispersed.

"A 16-year-old male youth was arrested following this second incident and enquiries are ongoing."

The Hoops celebrated a 3-0 defeat against Rangers in a match that was rescheduled from earlier in the year.
