Cops book cases after rally over Karnataka murder

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police registered two cases relating to skirmish between two groups at Attapur during a candle light rally and started investigation.

At around 9.15 pm, a group of 20 youngsters from Shivaji Nagar NM Guda under Rajendranagar police station limits took out a candle light rally condemning the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist in Karnataka. According to police, no permission was obtained to take out the rally and at least half of the participants in the rally were juveniles.

As the rally was passing by Shivaji Nagar and NM Guda with participants raising slogans, two men who came by on a bike had also allegedly raised slogans, leading to a confrontation between both the parties. “Despite the rally being taken out without prior permission, our patrolling team came to know about it and they reached the spot within a few minutes after the confrontation. The crowd was immediately dispersed,” Shamshabad DCP Jagadeeshwar Reddy said.

Throughout the night, police intensified patrolling in communally-sensitive Kishanbagh, NM Guda and Sikh Chawni areas, ensuring that no untoward incidents take place. On Thursday, police registered a case against people who took out the rally. The second case was registered against the two unknown persons on the bike under section 153-a of the IPC. Cops have taken some people into custody.
