An "essential" eyewitness is being urged by police to contact officers after a person was mowed down by a car in an apparent attempted murder bid in West Dunbartonshire.
The 31-year-old was struck by a white Toyota C-HR on Graham Avenue, Clydebank, at around 6.30pm on Tuesday March 15 before the vehicle drove off in the direction of Kilbowie Road.
Detectives are treating the incident as attempted murder and say they are "keen" to hear from further witnesses.
In a further appeal for information from the public on Friday, police urged a man who was walking with a child in front of the car before it struck the victim to come forward.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries to trace everyone who was in the area of Graham Avenue when this crime took place and I am keen to hear from any further witnesses to this incident.
“From our enquiries so far, we know that a man walking with a child crossed in front of the car in Graham Avenue before it struck the victim.
"We believe that he may hold information that is essential to this investigation and I would urge him to contact us. He was wearing black trousers and a black jacket with distinctive yellow sleeves.
"Anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with information that will assist our enquiry should contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 3120 of 15 March.
"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
Video from the scene shared with the Record earlier this week shows the moment the man was struck in front of a crowd of people, after he was seen emptying rubbish from a bin across the street.
Youngsters were among the witnesses running to the victim's aid but they quickly retreated as the driver and front passenger leapt out of the white motor before an altercation ensued.
The white car is then seen driving out of the street before veering off to the left, away from the scene.
Officers have said the victim 'did not sustain injuries' but the act was 'deliberate'.
Yesterday morning, officers revealed a 24-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the incident but was released 'pending further enquiries'.
Their investigation into the alleged murder bid is 'ongoing'.
