THIEVES have stolen copper wire from a railway signal box overnight, causing travel chaos for train commuters on Wednesday.
An investigation is under way following the vandalism and stealing incident at Cockle Creek.
Police have been told that about 11.30pm on Tuesday August 27, wires were stolen from a signal box in the rail corridor.
The theft resulted in the disruption of train movements across the network. Drivers also had to stop on platforms or between stations for extended periods while going through the affected area.
