Cop Pulls Over Woman In G80. Then She Remembers What’s In Her Glove Box: ‘Can’t Make This Up’

A police officer pulled over a G80 driver because, according to him, it sounded like gunshots every time she let off the throttle. Her registration was in the glovebox. Before reaching for it, the BMW M3 owner decided to let the officer know what else was in there: a rotisserie chicken.

Slick (@slickerspeed), whose TikTok channel covers her motorcycles and whatever else happens in her life, captured the interaction in a video that has over 253,000 views. “I was just tryna prank my brother n get coffee,” reads the caption.

She is filming from the driver’s seat, and the officer appears only as a figure outside her window.

‘I Just Didn’t Want You To Think I Was Weird’

“I swear to God, bro, I can’t make this … up right now,” Slick tells the camera.

The officer gets straight to the point. He says, “I’m pulling you over because your car sounds like gunshots every time you let off.”

“Oops,” she replies.

“You can’t be driving like that on public roads,” the officer says before asking for her license.

Her registration is in the glovebox, she explains, “and I have, like, a rotisserie chicken in there. And I just didn’t want you to think I was weird when I pulled it out.”

Uh, Why Does The G80 Driver Keep A Chicken In Her Glovebox?

According to her, it’s a running joke. “Me and my brother have this joke every time we see each other, we, like, put something random in the glovebox,” she says.

The bagged chicken makes a brief appearance on camera. Then the officer asks, “Were you aware that having a chicken that size in your glovebox is actually illegal?”

“What?” Slick says.

“It’s considered a fire hazard,” comes the reply, followed by, “No, I’m just kidding. Smells good, though.”

She had planned to get the chicken out before the officer reached her window, she says, but “I didn’t want you to, like, see me, like, going through my glovebox. And you’re like, ‘She has a gun.’ And I’m like, ‘Stop, it’s a rotisserie chicken.’ So I wanted to explain it before I opened it.”

The officer thanks her and asks about the car. “It’s a G80, yeah,” she says.

Asked what has been done to it, she answers, “Just an exhaust.”

The clip ends with the officer sending her on her way.

About The G80 And That Exhaust Sound

The G80 is the sixth-generation M3, introduced by BMW in 2020 with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six making 473 hp, or 503 hp in Competition form.

BMW said selecting Sport or Sport+ mode “turns up the intensity of the exhaust sound” and that an M Sound button “allows the driver to reduce engine note when desired.”

The pops come from fuel burning in the exhaust. A backfire, as Jalopnik explains, “is when combustion occurs outside of the cylinders in the exhaust system.” Some owners have it programmed in. The Drive’s Chris Rosales has described how these “burble tunes” work: The ECU keeps injecting fuel off-throttle, and ignition timing is pulled back “to near zero, allowing combustion to escape past open exhaust valves and combust into the exhaust.”

Slick’s Instagram bio says she lives in Arizona, where state law requires “a muffler that is in good working order and that is in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise.” Violations carry a penalty of at least $100. The statute doesn’t define “excessive or unusual,” however.

Should You Tell A Cop What’s In Your Glovebox?

Slick’s warning about her rotisserie chicken conforms with the advice given to drivers on interacting with police by motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies.

Guidance from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators says that if documents are out of reach, drivers should “tell the officer where they are and wait for the officer’s acknowledgment before reaching to retrieve the documents.” Arizona offers similar guidance in its driver license manual.

One viewer who said they were a police officer approved of her approach. They wrote, “As a cop… this is one of the better ‘I just want you to be aware I have a…’ in the glovebox. I can assure you that made a shift of officers laugh.” When another viewer guessed the body-camera footage had been watched, the officer replied, “Oh, it for sure was.”

‘It’s Not Illegal To Have A Chicken In The Glovebox’

Commenters riffed on the chicken.

“Every time that officer had a rotisserie chicken for dinner he’s going to think of this exact moment,” one viewer wrote.

“He took me out saying it was a fire hazard,” another said in a comment with nearly 2,500 likes.

A third quipped, “It’s not illegal to have a chicken in the glove box but it is considered a fowl.”

Some saw a hidden agenda in the cop’s behavior. “I feel certain that was his attempt at flirting with you,” another said, to which Slick answered, “Or was I flirting with him, idk.”

Motor1 reached out to Slick via Instagram direct message for comment. We’ll be sure to update this if she responds.
