Controversial plans for a sewage development at a popular park have been approved and an application to build 35 new homes have been given the go ahead. The sewage pumping station proposed for Hailey Park in Llandaff North was met with vocal opposition by many residents.
Other applications in Cardiff, including a proposal to turn a garage in the city centre into a restaurant and plans for a new car and van rental store were also decided on recently. Here are some of the stand out planning applications that were made to and decided by Cardiff Council over the past couple of weeks.

Canton
Plans for 35 new homes have been given the green light. Cardiff Council has approved plans for a new residential development on Sanatorium Road, Canton. Buildings next to the former dairy on Sanatorium Road will be demolished to make way for the new development, which will consist of a mix of houses and apartments. Read more about these plans here.
Leckwith
A vacant property in Leckwith will be turned into a car and van rental facility. An application to turn a vacant unit at Freemans Parc on Penarth Road into a car and van rental facility and 'wash bay' has been given the go ahead.
Pontcanna
Plans have been revealed for a makeover of a popular pub's garden area. The Pontcanna Inn on Cathedral Road has applied for planning permission to carry out works on its garden.
The pub is seeking to develop a "well designed and structured" outdoor area with pergolas and seating at the back of the property to provide a more "attractive environment" for customers. The proposal also includes plans for a new toilet block.
Llandaff North
Controversial plans to build a sewage pumping station in a well used park were approved. Cardiff Council's planning committee approved the application despite a last ditch effort from residents and campaigners to delay a decision.
The pumping station, which will be situated near the Ty Mawr Road entrance of the park, will allow sewage from the Plasdwr housing development to be transported to Cardiff Wastewater Treatment Works. You can read more about this here.
City centre
An application to turn garages and a forecourt situated next to a Cardiff nightclub into two units for the sale of food and drink has been approved. The change of use application relates to the Nickel Yard, next door to Metros off Bakers Row.
