Controversial plans to knock a house on a quiet cul-de-sac in Cardiff to make way for a footpath have been approved. The home on Clos Nant Glaswg in Pontprennau is to be knocked down and replaced by the path, which will link the small close with a planned social housing development.
45 new homes are set to be built as part of a new estate on former farmland off nearby Ty Draw Road, an unlit country lane with no footpath. Get the latest news from across Cardiff sent straight to your inbox for free by signing up to our newsletters.
Hundreds of Pontprennau residents objected to the plans, raising concerns that the new footpath could "create a ghetto" and increase crime rates in the area while causing property values to plummet. However, despite this opposition, the demolition of the two-storey house will go ahead after Cardiff council finally approved the plans on Tuesday, July 26.
